This document outlines how the data in this repository is structured. The software required to run the files in the repository is: *Matlab *LabVIEW version 14.0 *MP4 player (for instance, VLC media player) *ABAQUS Version 6.14 The folders in the repository are structured as follows. 1) The folder "Part I" contains all the data for Part I of the paper 'Experimental Path-Following of Equilibria Using Newton's Method. Part I: Theory, Modelling, Experiments'. The folder "Part I" contains four additional folders: "Figures", "ExpCONTROLLER_LabVIEW", "ExperimentData" and "ExperimentVideo". 1.1) The folder "Figures" contains the Matlab plots that have been used for the figures in the paper. All Matlab .fig files can be opened with Matlab and the curves copied then elsewhere. The data from each of the figures can also be extracted from the plots by accessing the object fields directly. See the Mathworks help pages for more details. For example, see here: https://uk.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/2951-extracting-data-series-from-fig-file The folder "Figures" contains three additional folders: i) Introduction: the figures pertaining to the equilibrium path of von-Mises truss presented in Section 1. ii) VirtualTesting: the figures pertaining to the virtual testing results presented in Section 3. iii)Exp: the figures pertaining to experimental results and their comparisons with virtual testing results presented and discussed in Sections 4, 5 and 6. The folder "Figures" also contains edited .pdf versions of the Matlab figures, which are the ones printed in the paper. 1.2) The folder "ExpCONTROLLER_LabVIEW" contains the LabVIEW projects that measure the reaction forces and control the displacements of the main actuation point and the probes within the experimental path-following framework. The files can be opened with the LabVIEW version 14.0. The file for the main control panel is 'CONTROLLER v0.12.vi'. The experimental path-following algorithm is implemented in the file 'algorithm_Kt.vi'. 1.3) The folder "ExperimentData" contains the results of the experimental path-following on arch specimens with three different probe locations L/6, L/4, L/3. In each probe location, there are three '.txt' files, which correspond to displacement controlled loading at the actuation point only (no probes), path-following from S1 traversing L1 (loading from normal shape) and path-following from S2 traversing L2 (loading from inverted arch shape), respectively. The names for these three cases are ended with '-np.txt', '-1.txt', and '-2R.txt', respectively. 1.4) The folder "ExperimentVideo" contains the videos made based on the continuous photos taken during the test. The format of the video is '.mp4'. The speed of the video is 200 times faster than the actual tests. 2) The folder "Part II" contains all the data for Part II of the paper, 'Experimental Path-Following of Equilibria Using Newton’s Method. Part II: Applications and Outlook'. The folder "Part II" contains two additional folders: "Figures" and "AbaqusOdbfiles". 2.1) The folder "Figures" contains the Matlab plots files that have been used for the figures in the paper. All Matlab .fig files can be opened with Matlab and the curves copied then elsewhere. The data from each of the figures can also be extracted from the plots by accessing the object fields directly. See the Mathworks help pages for more details. For example, see here: https://uk.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/2951-extracting-data-series-from-fig-file The folder "Figures" contains three additional folders: i) ShallowArch: the figures pertaining to the effect of pre-compression on a shallow arch presented in Section 3.1. ii) ShellRoof: the figures pertaining to the results of full equilibrium manifold of a shallow roof in Section 3.2. iii)CylindricalShell: the figures pertaining to non-destructive testing of launch vehicle structures presented and discussed in Section 3.3. The folder "Figures" also contains edited .pdf versions of the Matlab figures, which are the ones printed in the paper. 2.2) The folder "AbaqusOdbfiles" All ABAQUS .odb files can be opened with ABAQUS Version 6.14. The deformation shapes of the shallow roof and cylindrical shell can be viewed and extracted using the ABAQUS CAE tools. The folder contains two additional folders: i) ShellRoof: contains the .odb files for the deformation profiles of shallow roof presented in Figure 8. ii) ImpCylinder: contains the .odb file for deformation profiles of the imperfect cylinder under axial compression presented in Figure 14.
