Electronic Supplement to ‘Automated Classification of Near-Fault Acceleration Pulses Using Wavelet Packets’ by Zhiwang Chang, Flavia De Luca and Katsuichiro Goda. The supplementary material includes two parts: a table (S1) and a string of plots (S2). The table is to list the information of all the components that are identified as having significant velocity pulses from the NGA-West2 database (accessed on August, 2016); while the plots are to display the acceleration, velocity and the displacement time histories of the components as well as the time histories of the cumulative squared velocity (CSV) for each component. All plots are made using the software of MATLAB (R2012a). NGA West2 database: https://ngawest2.berkeley.edu/users/sign_in (Note: to download records, free registration is required) Nomenclature in S1: Mw: moment magnitude; Rrup: the closest distance from the recording site to the ruptured plane; Vs,30: shear-wave velocity averaged in the top 30m of soil; PGV: peak ground velocity; EVP: energy of the velocity pulse in relative sense; EAP: energy of the acceleration pulse in relative sense; Tp,1: pulse period by peak-point-method; Tp,2: pulse period by the pseudo-velocity-response-spectrum. Nomenclature in S2: Acc. Acceleration; Vel. Velocity; Dis. Displacement; Extr. Acc. Extracted Acceleration; CSV Cumulative squared velocity in relative sense; CSA Cumulative squared acceleration in relative sense.
